Vegas July 2014 - Main Event satellite

Planning
Last Updated: 2014-06-30 17:07:42
UPDATE: Since my plan to win a pile of money in event 51 didn't pan out, I am going to try to satellite into the main event on Saturday the 5th.
Our plan for June that was "set in stone" got thrown into total chaos. Joann needs to be home for three weeks in the month including that week. I made other plans earlier in the month that can't change. There are certain days I have to be at work in June. And there's the whole "Pete's losing his job and we're moving to Colorado" thing. But we figured it out, and here's the plan:
I'm going out by myself for part of our planned June trip to get in my WSOP tournament. I'm staying at the Luxor, which is the cheapest MGM owned hotel I could get into (gotta earn those status points!).
Then we're going back the first full week of July to get in the real vacation, staying at Aria. As it turns out, we're actually saving about $500 on Aria going this week rather than when we had originally planned, and my bill for Luxor plus gas is going to be probably a few bucks less than that $500...so we're actually breaking even and I'm getting four extra days in Vegas...wow!
And what do you know...that's when the Main Event happens to be going on. Imagine that.
Because I have a birthday this year that has a "0" associated with it, Joann has been suggesting to me that I should consider the Main Event a a big ol' birthday present to myself. And that's incredibly tempting.
But the bankroll manager in me realizes that if I was actually going to drop that kind of money I would be much better off spending a week and playing in 3-5 WSOP tournaments instead of putting all those eggs into one basket, however awesome a basket it would be. And that "3-5" can't happen now because I'm not going to be there for a whole week any more when I go out for the one I am playing in.
But...having said all that, I will be out there. If I get deep enough in event 51 to cover my buyin, it would start to sound a lot more possible. And if we somehow sell both of our houses between now and then we'll have a big burden off our backs...so you never know.
I've also had a few friends talk about wanting to stake someone. If people come out of the woodwork offering to buy pieces of me, the closer I get to the buyin the more likely it would be that I'll play.
So here's the deal I'll offer. 1% shares for $200, with a minimum guarantee of your money back if I cash but it's an amount smaller than $20,000. With a $10 million guarantee if I were to get first place you'll make $50,000 for every $200 and I'll be doing all the work.

Pete find some people to stake you. I would buy a modest piece of the action!
