Day Three - A day off |

Today was kind of a ho-hum day, which I think is what I needed going into tomorrow.
Went to Bellagio for brunch. What can I say that I haven't said already? Click here for what I've said already. Delicious as always.
We did a little shopping and got stuff for the kids and some See's candy for me. Then we came back to the room and alternated trying to take naps (neither successful), I hit the craps tables and blew everything I'd won at craps and then some. Ugh.
Next we headed back to Bellagio for the garden and the fountains, and then over to Rio to gawk at the pros. Got to see Ivey, Bloch and Devilfish in a $2500 PL Omaha tournament. Dan Heimiller (sp?) also was in that one for people who watch entirely too much poker on TV. Then back to Paris for a very late dinner (sat down at like 10:30) and that was pretty much our day.
So tomorrow is the big day, and hopefully I'll have a lot to talk about. I have to admit, I've already got butterflies for this one. They got 2600 people for yesterday's $1500 buyin so I'm thinking at least 2000 people will cough up the money for this one. I can't fathom playing against 2000 people, its very daunting to think about.
Plus ... in the tournaments I've played in the past I was able to delude myself that I'd have some kind of advantage over all of the Hold'Em players that were fish out of water in 8/b tournaments and HORSE tournaments. No such illusions this time. This is going to be all Hold'em players. And it's probably going to be 2000 of them...
And some serious money. Last year's winner took home half a mil.
And lastly, one thing that's very different about this one is that I can be gone in one hand. No limits to stop an all ins on hand number one.
So wish me luck. If I can survive to day two I will consider it an accomplishment, but obviously my eye will be firmly on the prize. |
