Day 5 - Aria |

Short one today, ugly and uglier.
Since we had a 2am dinner last night we decided against the plan of the Bellagio Champagne brunch again today and after sleeping in I made my way to the Aria 1:00pm tournament while Joann headed out to the City Center shopping mall.
I did get some cards early for a change, it was nice playing with chips for a while. Got paid off once with aces and won a nice sized pot when I called a pre-flop overbet w/ just Q-10 suited, hit the queen and got paid some more. By the first break I was in the 15-20K range from a starting stack of 10k.
Unfortunately that was the highlight of the day for me. After the first break I went absolutely card dead and just got chipped away at for the next hour and a half.
Eventually I got all in with K-10 off, ran into A-7 and lost and was down to 1000 chips.
I then proceeded to triple up on back-to-back hands back up to 9000 but with the blinds 600/1200/100 I was clearly still desperate. One more all in with K-J, called by pocket 2s, flop A-K-2, J on the turn to give me four outs but a blank on the river and I was done.
Had a good early dinner at the 24 hr cafe in Aria, then headed back to the poker room and somehow it went from bad to worse for me. This time I didn't even get out of the 2nd level, all in on the turn with trip Qs only to run into 6's full. 7 outs on the river but none of them hit.
Too early to call it a night, but way too long of a waiting list to get back into the 7:00 at Aria so we went over to the Rio to railbird for a little while. Got to see a Phil Helmuth rant when someone was bluffing at a pot on every street and caught a 2-outer on the river.
But that's all I got for today. Tomorrow night is date night, Joann and I going to Smith and Wolenski's (sp?) for a fancy steak dinner and other than that we got no specific plans. |
