| Welcome to the BLOG for Pete's November 2006 Las Vegas trip. As with the June trip, I'm planning to update this page at least once a day depending on what's going on.

| I'm not even gone yet and the trip is practically a nightmare.

| The driving reason behind the trip is that Matt from across the street goes out every year at this time with his best softball players to play in a major tournament. Matt has lots of comps and the plan was for him to hook up myself and "Richie the Wop" with a room. Rich and I (same Rich as last time for those of you reading who aren't part of the regular poker crowd) were going to drive out and meet everyone out there. Basically the reason I'm going is because I can go for the cost of gas and food. A cheap weekend in Vegas, right?

| The first problem was that within a few days of Rich and I finding dirt cheap airfares (about a month and a half ago) and deciding to fly instead of drive, Matt finds out that the dates have been moved. The cost to change the flight dates is, well, what we paid for the airfare plus the difference in price for the new dates. So the airfare is lost money. We're back to driving and the trip has just gotten more expensive...

| Then last week Matt finds out two(?) people have backed out on him for softball. Matt doesn't have enough players to field a team. Pete is now softball player #10. I'd have to check with Matt, but I believe you *must* field 10, you can't field 9 (at least not without severe penalty). Matt now really needs me...

| Then a few days before we're going to leave, Rich gets told by his boss that he can't have any time off. None. Two days of hemming and hawing and it's final. Rich isn't going. And I'm NOT driving by myself. I try to find a last minute sucker to go with me...no luck. I now have to pay for one-day-advance airfare...I find something reasonable...but the trip has just gotten more expensive again...
