Vegas June 2018 (WSOP)

Day 10 - Aria, Rio
Last Updated: 2018-06-18 10:35:33
Patrick had a rough day two in the WSOP 8/b Mix, got involved of all of two hands and neither one worked out for him. He got quartered by a short stack (tho rereading the text I got from him the hand doesn't make sense so not going to relay it, as he described it he should have gotten scooped) and then had AA36Q with one suited ace, flopped nut flush draw/second nut low but opponent had A2 for nut low and rivered two-pair. Ouch!
I can feel that pain, it sucks when you feel great making a day two but go home quickly once you get there.
My frustration continues. I lasted a little longer on Father's Day but not nearly long enough in either tournament I played.
Senior's at Aria started out especially poorly, down to 12k after not winning a pot for the first 45 minutes from my 20K start. Finally started to drag a few chips in now and then, but couldn't get paid much with KK. Worked my way back up around 16k...until the last hand before the break "Anna Kournikova" (Ace King - looks great, never wins...) cost me a chunk and I went into the break at exactly half a stack.
Never recovered, only pot I won of any size was when I flopped a set of queens and got paid for that. Eventually got all in with KQ off (snap called by AT suited when I'd hardly been playing a hand, he should have at least thought about it a little) and that was it for me for the seniors tournament.
But it did take me 4.5 hours to bust, meanwhile Patrick had busted out of WSOP and texted me he was jumping into the 4pm Daily Deepstack at Rio.
Well if you're going to twist my arm...
Got there just a little after the tournament start. Unlike the regular DDS they run at 1pm, this one is "Big Blind Ante" format like Aria. I predict 100% of WSOP and WSOP DDS tournaments will be big blind ante ... in fact I predict it will easily be the industry standard throughout poker rooms by year's end! We're going to be using it in the home game when we start up again in July!
15K to start for your $200.
Lost a chunk with jacks (100 ways to play them, all wrong!) but took out a short stack on a flip with AK vs 22. Actually worked my way above 20k. 21400 at the first break after two hours.
But after that first break I'm back to my frustratingly familiar pattern. I did have playable cards, but can't catch a flop to save my life and can't get many c-bets through. When you can only win pots by stealing with air when you miss and you're surrounded by sticky players there isn't a whole lot you can do.
I busted just before the second break. Shoved with an ace, big blind woke up with TT and crippled me, next hand all in with only 2200 and blinds at 1000/500/1000 with KQ, TT again, no help, done.
Patrick apparently got coolered and busted 62nd paying 55. Ouch! Might add that story here after I hear it...
Dunno yet what we're doing for our Monday.
