Vegas June 2021

Original "June Trip" post
Last Updated: 2020-09-22 15:04:50
THE WSOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2020 (LIKELY TO BE CANCELLED ANYWAY), THIS BLOG WILL BE A PLACEHOLDER FOR WHENEVER MY NEXT POKER TRIP IS. IF THERE IS A WSOP IN THE FALL I WILL BE GOING.
We have booked Aria for June 4-21.
That's all I got for now...as soon as the WSOP schedule comes out there surely will be more detail...
It's possible the dates will change if the WSOP schedule is drastically different from last year, but the last several years they've kept certain parts of the schedule remarkably consistent so my expectation is that the things I care about will be roughly scheduled in that timeframe.
Mid-December UPDATE: They have announced that the WSOP will run 5/26-7/15 at the Rio. I intend to play in the Senior's event that will run 6/18-21. Main Event is 7/1-15, Big 50 ends on the day we arrive but I would not have played in that anyway I don't think. No further schedule announcements anticipated in 2019.
Late January UPDATE:The WSOP has been trickling out schedule announcements about once a week. Still waiting to hear when 8-game will be, however $1K PLO is 6/10 and they've announced a bigger (but not huge) buyin "9-Game Mix" the same weekend as seniors. If they drop the low buyin 8-game OR push it way out in the schedule I may seriously consider combining my 8-game money and my seniors money and just play in 9-game. The 9th game is No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. I'm confident enough in my 2-7 skills that I can translate to NL single draw.
Also we've gone ahead and added another day to the trip (now departing the 22nd) in case I make final table in either seniors or 9-game, whichever I end up playing in. Plan for the best case, hope for the best case!
Early February UPDATE: The WSOP schedule is nearly finalized, unfortunately the 8-game mix is out for me in 2020. They moved it all the way out to 7/12, and we're not moving the trip from June to July. I have some options, however. There's HORSE the day we drive out (do I really want to drive 11 hrs, check into a hotel and go straight to Rio? Probably not...); an 8/b Mix the next day (I made day 2 the last time I played that one!); a 2-7 TD tournament on the 12th; PLO the 14th; and Razz on the 16th. Plus the above mentioned 9-game. 8/b mix is looking like the most likely choice.
FINAL UPDATE: The final WSOP schedule came out a week after the above update and it looks like all they added were online events I won't participate anyway. So the dates are effectively locked in (6/4-22), now it's just what I will play in.
For now I'm leaning to 8/b Mix on our first full day (only way I would do HORSE would be if we went out Wednesday night and that's extremely unlikely due to Joann's work schedule ... we gotta pay for all this! :-) ) plus PLO with Patrick on the 10th and Seniors on the final weekend. If things were going VERY well then more could be in the cards. I do badly want to play in the 9-game, but I think I'm better off doing 8/b and seniors and taking two shots instead of just one.
I likely will not update this entry again and will just do a new entry when I come up with a notional poker itinerary.
